valentine’s day was made to commemorate st. valentine a roman priest or bishop inducted as a saint in catholic religion on... well february 14, in the 3rd century. he was very well known for marrying people who weren’t supposed to get married. he’s most famous for writing a letter to a man's wife he befriended when he was jailed by christians before being killed. The letter started off with "from your valentine..." he'd be killed in the mid-3rd century.

does this sound like a love story to you? well, it kind of is. it turns out that valentine married the couple so the husband didn't have to go to war.

this holiday just seems problematic. you get a valentine who will buy you chocolates and flowers and expensive gifts, and then you have to reciprocate (unless you're one of those people who think men have to spend more [*cough* *cough* cardi]) but do you get flowers randomly from your significant other? Chocolates? Gifts?

Welp, that’s tough. You’re creating unrealistic expectations for what your relationship is because of what you’re getting for Valentine’s Day.

This year I’ve been working on documenting my life as a teen, who just happens to be in a pandemic. I’ve done 3 collections now, including this one. The theme for this collection was inspired by the incredible album by the Beatles, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club.

I invited a few friends (and my little brother) to come to participate.
